Republic County Economic Development (RCED) is dedicated to fostering a thriving
economic environment for businesses, entrepreneurs, and residents in Republic County.
Our mission is to attract new businesses, support existing enterprises, and enhance the
quality of life through strategic initiatives in agribusiness, manufacturing, housing, and
workforce development
POSITION SUMMARY
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive oUicer of RCED, providing visionary
leadership and strategic direction to advance the organization’s goals. This role oversees all
operations, fundraising, program development, and stakeholder engagement while serving
as the primary advocate for economic growth in Republic County (pop. ~4,700).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute long-term economic growth strategies aligned with county
priorities
- Manage budgeting, financial reporting, grant writing, and fundraising
- Lead business retention, expansion, and attraction (BRE/BA) eUorts
- Support entrepreneurs, workforce training, and housing initiatives
- Build and maintain partnerships with local government, KDOC, KAC, chambers, and
regional stakeholders
- Serve as spokesperson at community, county, and state events
- Oversee marketing and communication to position Republic County as a businessfriendly
destination
- Monitor
economic trends and recommend data-driven policies
- Recruit, lead, and develop staU/volunteers (if applicable)
- Ensure compliance, transparency, and measurable outcomes
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, or
related field OR equivalent leadership experience in economic development
- Proven success in budget management, fundraising, and organizational operations
- Deep knowledge of economic development tools (incentives, TIF, tax credits, grants)
- Exceptional communication, public speaking, and relationship-building skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management abilities
- Ability to work independently and lead collaboratively
Preferred
- 5+ years in economic or community development (rural experience a plus)
- Experience with grant writing and administration
- Familiarity with the Kansas Department of Commerce, USDA Rural Development, and
regional networks
