JOB TITLE: Admissions Clerk

REPORTS TO: Directly responsible to the Business Manager

Workers Supervised: None

Interrelationships: Works cooperatively with all hospital departments.

JOB SUMMARY:

To perform designated routine tasks related to the operation of the Business Office.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs office duties including: opening up the department if first here, answering the phone, completing patient registrations in a timely manner, and answering billing questions.
  • Assists with department documentation, including daily organization and filing.
  • Assures compliance with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, continuous quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Cooperates with other hospital personnel to maintain good employee relations and meet all department objectives.
  • Communicates clearly and accurately with patients, families, physicians and co-workers.
  • Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-service, meetings, etc.
  • Attends and represents the department at appropriate meetings, as requested by the director.
  • Performs tasks to maintain the department in an orderly condition.
  • Maintains CONFIDENTIALITY of all information. Ensures that the patient/resident’s rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are well established and maintained at all times.
Typical Working Conditions:
  • Occasionally exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases.
  • Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
  • Occasionally exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness)
  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience: Six months of experience in healthcare, preferred.
  • Education: High school graduate
  • Req. Cert./Registration: N/A
  • Essential Functions: Available upon request. Level 3
