Receptionist/Admissions Clerk

Full-time Position
M-F (7 AM – 3:30 PM)
No Weekends
JOB TITLE: Admissions Clerk
REPORTS TO: Directly responsible to the Business Manager
Workers Supervised: None
Interrelationships: Works cooperatively with all hospital departments.
JOB SUMMARY:
To perform designated routine tasks related to the operation of the Business Office.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs office duties including: opening up the department if first here, answering the phone, completing patient registrations in a timely manner, and answering billing questions.
- Assists with department documentation, including daily organization and filing.
- Assures compliance with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, continuous quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Cooperates with other hospital personnel to maintain good employee relations and meet all department objectives.
- Communicates clearly and accurately with patients, families, physicians and co-workers.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-service, meetings, etc.
- Attends and represents the department at appropriate meetings, as requested by the director.
- Performs tasks to maintain the department in an orderly condition.
- Maintains CONFIDENTIALITY of all information. Ensures that the patient/resident’s rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are well established and maintained at all times.
Typical Working Conditions:
- Occasionally exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases.
- Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
- Occasionally exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness)
- Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: Six months of experience in healthcare, preferred.
- Education: High school graduate
- Req. Cert./Registration: N/A
- Essential Functions: Available upon request. Level 3
