Payroll Clerk/Human Resources Jobs in Belleville, Kansas

USD 109 Republic County Schools is looking for a Human Resources/Payroll Clerk with the following qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • College degree or equivalent preferred; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong background in bookkeeping, accounting, business, human resources, English, and Mathematics.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize job tasks and meet established deadlines.
  • Have the ability to hear sufficiently to use a telephone.
  • Have the ability to use appropriate computer programs.
  • Possess skills suitable for using a variety of office equipment.
  • Able to work well with employees, patrons, and other appropriate individuals or groups.
  • Able to respond to information requests in a courteous, timely and helpful manner.
  • Able to be away from home one or more nights to attend training sessions as assigned by the board or superintendent.
  • Understand confidentiality with school business, records, and personnel matters.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent/Board of Education
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • File all reports with appropriate agencies as required by law and /or regulation
  • Keep all personnel records secure and up to date.
  • Compute all gross payroll and post in SUI to process payroll, process monthly employee benefit checks selected from groups Cafeteria Plan
  • Submit monthly and annual KPERS, Retired KPERS, and KPERS Life Insurance reports electronically on the Web Portal
  • Process and print annual Employee W-2 forms and distribute them to employees.
  • Managing all aspects of Red Rover software program, including electronic timesheets, absences, and substitute coverage.
  • Record all Employee leave banks, and review accuracy of balances.
  • Filing Unemployment payments quarterly and responses to unemployment claims.
  • Responsible for processing all Worker’s Compensation claims and reports.
  • File payroll taxes and complete 941 quarterly returns. File W’2’s electronically with the state of Kansas and Social Security Adm.
  • Reconcile monthly payrolls.
  • Assist district administration with the recruitment and retention of staff members.
  • Monitor and update all staff information on the USD 109 website.
  • Assist applicants with the online application process using the applicant portal.
  • Assist the Superintendent with staff recognition initiatives.
  • Review and update USD 109 job descriptions.
  • Assist in schools as needed.
  • Monitor and update the evaluation cycle and compliance.
  • Arrange and monitor paraprofessional assessments.
  • Complete Employment Verification forms.
  • Complete time and effort forms for federal funds.
  • Assist with completing the KHPA Medicaid Cost reporting and other miscellaneous reports.
  • Comply with all board policies and regulations in the Classified Staff Handbook.
  • Assist in Notary Public duties
  • Typing/Copying/Faxing/ and performing other duties as directed by Superintendent or Board of Education
  • Designated employer representative for drug and alcohol testing for bus drivers. Schedule pre-employment and random testing.
  • Assist the Superintendent and office personnel as needed.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or other appropriate administrator.

This is a 12 month position as a payroll clerk jobs. Benefits include paid single health/dental plan, life insurance, KPERS retirement, paid sick and vacation leave. Salary commensurate with experience and education. Position open until filled.
