T.A.G.’s History

T.A.G.’s Grill and Bar is family owned and operated, T.A.G.’s was originally a grocery store. Garman’s moved to Scandia in 1979, purchased the grocery store and ran Garman’s Grocery for many years. The building was leased for some years and used as a construction site for a time. The family and John Davis began renovation in July of 2006, opening its doors January of 2007.
T.A.G.’s name came from the initials of Terry and Carol Garman’s children:

  • Todd Allan Garman
  • Troy Aaron Garman
  • Tracy Ann Garman Hannaman

Logo History
The two stars on the right and left-hand side by the T.A.G.’s represent Terry and Carol Garman and the three stars above represent their children, Todd, Tracy, and Troy.

Building History
The white rock used on some walls and the walk-in beer cooler is from Republic County the men of the family cut the rock with a saw they converted to a rock cutting saw. The barn siding used is from Carol Roe/Garman’s family farmstead in Jewell County. Venture into the Dining Room, the tin ceiling was taken from the old gymnasium in Kackley, Ks.
