Republic is a city in Republic County located near the Republican River. The community was named for the Pawnee Republic Native Americans. The Pawnee had a large settlement near Republic. After a local farmer stumbled upon Native American artifacts while working a field. The area was preserved and the Pawnee Indian Museum was created. If you are in Republic on the second Saturday of the month, make sure to catch the Second Saturday Cafe at the Republic School Building or anytime downtown at the Rip City Inn, where every Wednesday night is hamburger night!
