Dear editor:

Small town living is wonderful.

Living in Munden KS is so enjoyable. It was so unbelievable how the community came together and helped each other after the tornado Sunday night. To all our friends and neighbors in Cuba, Narka, Haddam, Mahaska, Clyde– thank you for your support. A special thank you to Prairieland Electric, JBN Telephone and the Republic County Highway Department for their nonstop 24 hours help with clean up, restoring our power and phone service.

I know sometimes the highway department and the electric company get a lot of negative press, but they came through in a disaster.

We also had people from Belleville, Concordia and other small towns who brought food, water and support to all the citizens of Munden. Special thanks to the ladies of the Belleville Methodist Church for bringing over the food Monday evening.

Having just moved here from the Kansas City area, I can assure you that you would not find this kind of support there. Those of us who are lucky enough to live in a small town USA are truly blessed. Thanks again to everyone who helped clean up our community.

Gary Lightfoot and the Citizens of Munden.
