RCED director, Luke Mahin states, “We are excited to move forward with NCK Industrial Development Inc. to bring a Love’s Travel Stop to Belleville, Kansas. Love’s is a proven leader in the travel stop and services industry and is continuing to grow at a rate of approximately 20 locations a year. They will be a huge asset to our HWY 81 corridor drawing traffic to town, adding jobs and generating new sales and property tax revenue. It will be a cornerstone project for the west side of HWY 81, bringing the initial infrastructure needed to develop the entire 80 acre NCK Industrial property.”

Love’s Media Specialist, Kealey Dorian, stated “The facility itself would be a Love’s Travel Stop that features name brand snacks, fresh fruit, gourmet coffee, an expanded fountain drink selection, gift merchandise, items for professional drivers and more. The 24/7 store would include a restaurant, which is to be determined. Showers for professional drivers and approximately 66 truck parking spaces would also be included. The entire facility would employ approximately 25 people.”  She followed that “Love’s is known nationwide for its ‘Clean Places, Friendly Faces’ and we’re excited at the possibility of bringing our excellent quality of service to Belleville.”

Mahin states the proposed project is estimated to cost $4 million dollars. The Love’s project  will be located within a 80 acre industrial park  which was annexed into the City of Belleville this year to assist with utility development. Mahin noted, “The City of Belleville has been pivotal in efforts to reduce the speed limit in the Highway 81 corridor of Belleville from Highway 36 north to Marble Road to accommodate the change in traffic patterns.”

RCED worked with NCK Industrial Development, Republic County, the City of Belleville, and North Central Regional Planning with preliminary work for the project.  RCED will assist in marketing and developing the remaining  acres available at the industrial park for retail, industrial, and or distribution.
