Cuba hopes for 100 tractors for drive to Belleville High Banks Friday

The Belleville Telescope – The Republic County focus on summertime entertainment turns to the Cuba Harvest Festival this weekend, with events ranging from a tractor drive to Bohemian horse races and bale races. The community’s goal is to attract 100 tractors to drive from Cuba to a lap around the Belleville High Banks race track and back to Cuba again on Friday afternoon, July 18. Tractors are invited to start lining up at 2:30 p.m. at Cuba, with the drive taking off at 3 p.m. A sand volleyball tournament and Bohemian horse races on main street at 7:30 p.m. round out Friday events. Entries for a tractor show will be accepted Saturday morning downtown starting at 9 a.m.. A poker run horseshoe tournament, bingo, polka dance and kids games will be staged in the afternoon. Evening events include a parade, baby show, horseball tournament and street dance, with a Bohemian bale race to take place during the intermission of the dance.
