Trustees of the Frank and Leva Duclos Foundation met May 27 in Concordia to award grants to area organizations.
Republic County representatives on the board are Frank Spurney and Edwin Splichal, Belleville. The Foundation had $46,500 to distribute at the meeting. Grants awarded in Republic County are:
•Republic County Resource Council, crisis/hardship funds $6,000.
•Community Harvest Garden, Belleville, $1,000 for fence, walkways and picnic tables.
•Summer Lunch Program, $800 for kitchen items.
•Doodle Bug Academy, Belleville, parking lot improvements $500.
•Republic County Czech Club, $500 to restore original backdrop.
•USD 109, Kansas Multi- Tier system of Supports program $500.
•USD 109, Future Business Leaders of America Chapter, $750 for hotel expenses for conference.
•USD 109 Accelerated Reader program quizzes $500.
•Belleville After School program, $3,000 scholarship assistance.
•Belleville Public Library, $1,000 front door replacement.
•Belleville Police Department, NCK Pride Program funding $500.
•City of Cuba, $500 for downtown beautification projects.
•Republic Fire Department, $1,000 to purchase a rescue saw and all purpose blade.
•Republic County Health Department, $500 to purchase color printer and office chairs.
•Rocky Pond Christmas Lighting, $500 to purchase additional lighting.
•Belleville Farmer’s Market funding, $500.
•Republic County Hospital, nursing pillows and educational materials $500.
•Republic County Hospital, $1,000 for car seat safety program.
•Blair Center for the Arts Foundation, Belleville, $1,000 for free summer matinees.
•Cuba Scouts Pack 56, Belleville, timer for aluminum pinewood derby racetrack and computer program $500.
•Golden Bell Haven, $1,000 for handicapped chair lift.
•Republic County 4-H Council, $500 to purchase tables and chairs.
•High Banks Hall of Fame, $500 to repair LED signage at museum.
