From the Classroom to a Career

The Nex-Generation Student Internship Program offers area youth with paid, summer internships with a variety of local and area businesses and organizations.  Our interns gain instructive and hands-on experiences in a variety of technical and non-technical fields as they work alongside skilled professionals.  Upon completion of the program, students will have gained valuable training that will help with their transition from the classroom to a local career.


Must be a high school or college student, age 16 or over, who is from or attending school in one of the following 30 counties:  Barton, Cheyenne, Cloud, Decatur, Ellis, Ellsworth, Gove, Graham, Jewell, Lane, Lincoln, Logan, McPherson, Mitchell, Norton, Osborne, Ottawa, Phillips, Rawlins, Republic, Rooks, Rush, Russell, Saline, Sheridan, Sherman, Smith, Thomas, Trego, and Wallace.

Location:  Scandia, KS (Republic County)
Position Description:  An intern with C & C will experience a variety of hands-on work in agriculture. He or she will assist in grading and packaging products for shipment; selling produce at both the Farmer’s Market and C & C’s new store location; and making deliveries. In addition, he or she will have opportunities to do fieldwork, such as weeding and pruning; harvesting; record keeping of daily harvest amounts; and customer communication through weekly newsletters.


Polansky Seed, Inc.
Location:  Belleville, KS (Republic County)
Position Description:  Our intern will learn various aspects of the seed business and seed industry, including, but not limited to, seed processing, packaging, and production. He or she will be able to shadow employees in all positions, including owner, manager, salesperson, seed technician, and bookkeeper.
