Fabrication plant near Scandia plans to grow in 2015

A custom fabrication business in Republic County is planning to expand this year. Best West Fabrication, located east of Scandia on Highway 36, does a variety of designing, constructing and repairing with steel, aluminum and stainless steel, and general manager Chase Larson said he hopes to grow the business in 2015.

When CT Fabrication, a custom oil-field trailer manufacturer, closed in November 2013, Best West Fabrication, owned by Bestifor, took its place. “Our purpose is to bring jobs to rural areas and bring a professional fabrication company to service Republic County and the surrounding area,” Larson said.

The new business has two employees from CT Fabrication – Mike Kasl, who is now the operation’s manager, and Mark White.

Kasl and White design, fabricate and repair items used in the agriculture and construction industries as well as cater to a variety of other jobs in the commercial and residential sector.

Best West Fabrication has a CAD system to design parts and a plasma table to make custom parts. Larson said Best West Fabrication can make a variety of irrigation parts, and common irrigation parts are kept in stock. The business also offers sandblasting and painting.

He said the business has made everything from a dozer brush guard to a service trailer and can repair just about anything made from metal. The business does a variety of repair work on trailers, including re-decking, axle repairs and electrical work. White and Kasl also provide mobile repairs with a full service truck complete with a crane system, which can be used in everything from fixing broken hitches to irrigation installation.

“Their combined experience of 25-plus years makes them the appropriate team to take on new and challenging projects,” Larson said.

“We are open to anything. Stop by and see what we can do.”

People can visit Best West Fabrication’s website, www.bestwestfab.com, to see pictures of a variety of completed projects and for more information. People can also stop in at the Best West Fabrication shop to talk with Mike Kasl or Mark White about a project. “We’ve got a full range of capabilities,” Kasl said.
